On-the-Job Training

Job seekers may wish to participate in On-the-Job Training (OJT) services that are available to companies that have an OJT Contract with Region 2 WIB. Those services are designed to help employees enhance their skills while continuing to perform their job responsibilities.

Employees hired under an OJT Contract are given a WorkKeys assessment in Applied Math, Reading for Information and Locating Information to identify areas where they can improve their skills. Next, a plan is developed to raise the employee’s skill levels to those needed by the work they are to perform. The length of the OJT contracts vary depending on the beginning skill levels of the employees.

Reimbursement of a portion of the employee’s wages while in training is available for employers using the on-the-job training services. Additionally, many of the employees using the on-the-job training services are eligible for the Region 2 Skills Certified certificates.
