Business Services

On-the-job training (OJT) services help employers build a higher-skilled workforce.

OJT services are available to Region 2 employers with vacant positions. Each new hire is given a WorkKeys assessment in Applied Math, Reading for Information, and Locating Information to identify areas where they can improve their skills. Next, a plan is developed to raise the employee’s skill levels to those needed by the work they are to perform. The length of the OJT contracts varies depending on the beginning skill levels of the new hires.

Reimbursement of a portion of the employee’s wages while in training is available for employers using the on-the-job training services. Additionally, many of the employees using the customized on-the-job training services are eligible for the Region 2 Skills Certified Recognition Program.
