Speakers Bureau

The Region 2 WDB Speakers Bureau allows individuals from businesses and local employers throughout our region to educate our youth about the career opportunities in the business world and prepare them to be the productive employees on which your future businesses depend.

Job Fair

Throughout the year, the Region 2 WDB hosts and participates in numerous Job Fairs in our seven county region. Hundreds of employers and businesses participate by setting up booths at the events and screening potential employees.

Informational Meeting

When your company is faced with the reality of a layoff of 50 or less individuals, the Learning Center will bring in career professionals from organizations like unemployment, the WORKFORCE West Virginia Center, Children’s Health Insurance and Credit Counseling to give your employees the information they need to stay on the right track during transitional times.

WorkKeys

The WorkKeys Assessment is a very valuable tool for any company. It allows you to evaluate the skills of your employees and potential employees. From that evaluation, we can help you identify the areas that can improve your overall productivity, efficiency and profitability.

The results will provide you with specific areas we can help your employees increase their basic skill levels in areas critical for successful performance on the job.

Skill Certification

The Region 2 WORKFORCE Development Board has partnered with the WORKFORCE West Virginia Centers, Learning Centers and local Chambers of Commerce to provide job seekers and employers with a comprehensive skills enhancement system that allows them or their employees to become “Skills Certified” in the basic skills needed for a specific occupation or for employment.

Through WorkKeys, a job seeker or employee can participate in training that allows them to demonstrate to their employer or potential employer that they possess the basic skills they need to excel at their career! Job Readiness

The WORKFORCE West Virginia Center and Learning Centers assist employers and job seekers in many areas. Just one of those services is the job readiness training that is provided.

Through the Region 2 Excel System, individuals are trained to become productive employees during a six-week, comprehensive program course that teaches skills such as applied math, reading for information, locating information and overall job skills.

Entrepreneurship

The Region 2 WDB has created partnerships throughout the seven-county area that allow enterprising individuals to learn skills they need to operate their own business. The entrepreneurial training that is available allows individuals to learn about all the requirements of operating their own business including:

  • Marketing assistance
  • Tax issues
